Ran across this article.
Gave me a sick feeling to my stomach.

Yuck, there is soemthing inherently scary about Trump making a comment on anything, in this case something 'spiritual' and act of worship becomes a business venture - with returns.
i am off to visit the great white telephone now to empty my stomach
Yeah, that article was something. The last statements about money crossing all lines of culture and religion and whatnot was like a horrible rewriting of Gal 3:28, no more Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female...
I enjoyed your interview of Rick from Blind Beggar. One quote really stood out to me
When you compare and contrast those wonderful early missional years with the denominational and church activities I was involved with (designed to support and further an institution and organization), it is pretty easy to know where the heart of God was.
I really struggle with this. My heart is in the local church. God used the local church to reach me in a powerful way. However, the comments about the denomination as an institution and organization ring all to true, and the paradigms of what church is are set pretty solid in the old mainline local congregations. So it's difficult. I interact with many of the people in the small churches I serve and I see people who really do care, but who have been let down as far as creating disciples. So what do I do? I'm just trying to figure some things out myself, yet here I am leading...
Anyway, perhaps the part of the mission in the missional movement has a place in churches. Perhaps the churches need to be evangelized? I just know that I once was a nominal attender, but now I'm on a weird and scary ride...
mofast I agree
its part of my calling to be a missionary to the church
calling her back to God's mission
and at the same time Im involved in a small missional house group that is dealing with similar issues
I think both are greatly needed
Odd that Trump comments on it, but I saw the news about the ATM in churches weeks ago and thought it was a great idea. I still think it's a great idea. Perhaps 1000 years ago or so my ancestors gave a chicken or something to the church. With the advent of paper money, we changed to that. Now electronic. It doesn't phase me a bit.
I was quite surprised when I heard that Donald Trump had heard of our giving kiosks at Stevens Creek Church. When we developed this technology, it was never for the "national media" attention, it was about resourcing the Lord's work.
Stevens Creek Church (stevenscreek.net) has a great passion to reach beyond ourselves and influence our community to walk in the steps of Jesus Christ. We are focused on loving God and loving people.
On June 6, 2004 at 5:45 AM the Lord prompted me to create this giving technology. I did not know what to do. I just walked through the doors God opened. We smile today at the thought that God may use this outside the doors of Stevens Creek to fund his work.
Just maybe God is using this thought to get Donald Trump thinking spiritual thoughts. Who knows what God can do. We know this that His word will not return void, it will accomplish the very things that He sends it out to do.
Say a prayer for Stevens Creek Church and for me.
Be Blessed today,
Marty Baker
