How do we Define the word "Church"

In several conversations I've had over the last weeks, the question has come up:

How do you define what the church is?

So here you go - help me out - share your best definition of what the church is.

Thanks

From scripture the church is the body, Christ being the head. So then are we not now the incarnate body of Christ in the earth? His arms, hands, feet, heart, etc., receiving our instruction and direction from the head? The bible also says we are "ambassadors of Christ." So then I suppose it follows that we are to exemplify the life of Jesus to those around us.

Thanks

I've generally used the following: the term "church" refers to the people of God; the called out ones; those formed for his dwelling and bearers of his presence in the world.
